Waves of Hope Gives Back
Why We Are Supporting Bethany House This Holiday Season
At Long Island Waves of Hope, our community is built by women on Long Island who support each other through various pathways to parenthood. Because our network is rooted in women lifting up other women and families, we know firsthand how vital compassion and community care are—especially during the holidays.
That is why we are so proud to support Bethany House.
We deeply admire the safe haven they provide for local women and children experiencing homelessness in Nassau County. Our missions align naturally: while Bethany House offers a secure, compassionate sanctuary and holistic support to help families heal and rebuild, Waves of Hope steps in to wrap our arms around those residents with tangible community love.
How We Are Helping This Season
To bring a little extra comfort, warmth, and relief to the families staying at Bethany House this holiday season, our members are organizing a targeted collection for two essential needs:
Paper Goods Collection: Supplying everyday household essentials to keep shelters fully stocked and ease operational needs.
Snack Bags for the Kids: Assembling thoughtful snack bags to bring a little extra joy, normalcy, and nourishment to the children during the holidays.
When local women and families come together to support one another, the impact goes far beyond material help—it reminds every mother and child that their community is standing right beside them
Bethany House Mission Statement
At Bethany House we support women, and women with children, experiencing homelessness, through transition to stability. We begin by providing shelter, and meeting the basic needs of our guests, in a welcoming and safe, home-like setting. We offer programs which provide a continuum of care that starts with emergency shelter, moves into transitional housing, and culminates in permanent housing and greater self-sufficiency. Ultimately, we strive for our guests and their children to experience a sense of self-worth and belonging in response to their experience with our dedicated staff and volunteers. Bethany House is built on a foundation of community support and partnerships, that include government agencies, faith-based organizations, non- profit service providers, colleges and universities as well as corporate sponsors and foundations.
